City & Colour w/ Dooms Children @ The Enmore Theatre
Photos & Words - James Gough
By the time this months over you’d think Dallas Green and Co. were locals. Starting with a spell of festival dates, Solo shows and followed by a run with Alexisonfire. Tonight marks the start of those solo shows at a sold out Enmore Theatre bought to us by the legends at Frontier Touring.
You’d be right for thinking it was a weekend with Enmore road’s pubs & eateries packed. School night or not there was such a happy and just all round positive vibe in the area. Packing in nice and early I was lucky enough to catch up with new friends & old friends. Everyone is either seeing City & Colour for the first time and some for second & even third time this year.
Kicking off the night was Dooms Children. Now full disclosure I’d not heard of DC until about a week ago. What I did listen to I haven’t been able to turn off. To my surprise out walks one of the hardest working blokes in all music, Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire & Gallows fame. Just to name just a few. If you needed a definition of cool you’d not need to look any further than this band. Ripping through a set of songs from their 2021 debut self titled record. Dooms Children bring a psychedelic, blues, desert rock-y dance party with all round good vibes and everyone was feeling it.
Two band bills… yep I’m all about this! A short break and returning to the stage was almost every member of Dooms Children. The incredibly talented Matt Kelly, Erik P.H Nielsen, Johnny 99 & Leon Power bring their swagger back across the Enmore stage for another go round. Joining them this time is the one and only Dallas Green. Diving straight in with one of the latest singles “Meant to Be” followed by one of my personal favourites “Living in Lightning” & “Waiting”. DG & company make their way across the flawless City & Colour discography with crowd favourites “Hello, I’m in Delaware” “The Girl” & “Sleeping Sickness” bringing the crowd to full volume.
If you’ve not already caught City & Colour on any of the festival shows I highly recommend grabbing tickets to these remaining shows for something truly special.
