Frankies Pizza x big 4

It’s day like this that i’ll reminisce over when talking about shows in the years to come. Our folks all had stories of where they used to go out when growing up, and i’m glad that plenty of my stories will come back to Frankies Pizza by the Slice.

After spending 10 or so hours in the bar shooting a friends wedding earlier in the day on Frankie’s stage, a supergroup consisting of legends across Australia’s metal scene from the bands Flaming Wreakage, Sumeru, Harlott, Burden Man, Desecrator, Killrazer & Arteries took the stage in a few different forms to rip through the songs of our youth Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeath & fucking Metallica!

The Setlist’s included the obvious tracks you’d expect to hear on a big 4 covers night, Master of Puppets, Raining Blood, Got the Time. What i wasn’t expecting was hear was bangers like Dead Skin Mask, Harvester of Sorrow and one of my personal favourite Metallica songs Disposable Heroes. Everyone putting this night together has done such an insane job with everything from having it at Frankies, assembling some of the best musicians around, picking the setlist. I remember looking over to a mate when Holier than Thou kicked off and thought this is without a doubt one of the best things i have ever been to.

Here’s to selfishly hoping this kind of night happens again before Frankies closes its doors. We can all be thankful in a world constantly bombarding us with negativity that we are privileged enough to have a venue like this along with such a healthy stock of local bands to help blow off that much needed steam.
