He Is Legend @ Crowbar

The energy coursing through Crowbar was absolutely electric, fuelled by a potent combination of love, comradery and ice-cold beer.

It was a congregation of epic proportions, where friends united to revel in the intoxicating blend of music, dance, and uninhibited passion that only true rock n' roll can deliver.

Kicking off the night were the relentless Sydney lads Fangz, veterans of the scene who possess an almost mythical status. When these guys take the stage as the support act, you can bet your ass that the venue will be packed from the get-go.

Their following is nothing short of a cult, and it's easy to see why. Frontman Josh, with the energy of a child set loose in a candy store, effortlessly commanded the stage, his every move igniting the crowd. Meanwhile, bassist Jameel sported a perpetual smile, an undeniable sense of belonging under the spotlight. And let's not forget Woodie, the rhythmic maestro, who kept the band in perfect timing with his flawless drumming. In the absence of their usual guitarist, the talented Sam Sheuack (currently on a Euro tour with his other band - SEIMS), the band welcomed Jameel’s own brother Mo to take the reins. Talk about keeping it in the family!

Next up, we were graced by the presence of the Gold Coast heroes known as Hammers. Their intoxicating fusion of stoner rock, metal, and blues seeped into the veins of every audience member, leaving them chanting along to beloved anthems like Silly Sausage and Guilty Pleasures.

Hammers’ groove was infectious, and their performance was a feast for the eyes, drenched in tightness and swagger. Lead singer Leigh "Fish" Dowling, armed with an old-school ribbon microphone glowing with a green LED light, fearlessly catapulted himself into the crowd, disappearing and reemerging as a wild force of nature.

And as beer soared through the air, one couldn't help but appreciate the raw charm of Crowbar, a slightly weathered venue that embodies the very essence of Sydney's rock ’n’ roll spirit.

Finally, it was time for the main event: the powerhouse from North Carolina, USA, none other than He is Legend.

After a lengthy absence from Australian shores, the anticipation among the audience was palpable, a collective yearning to have their eardrums pummeled once more by the band's signature sludge and roll. He is Legend unleashed a diverse set, drawing from their extensive catalogue of seven albums, each track an explosive punch to the senses. It was a Friday night extravaganza that demanded an emphatic "HELLYEAH!" from every attendee.

The walls and ceiling of Crowbar dripped with blood, sweat, vibes, and beer, a testament to the intensity of the experience. As the band's over 60-minute set drew to a close, the audience's hunger for more was insatiable. It had been seven long years since He is Legend graced this stage, and the love emanating from the crowd affirmed that every single second of their performance was cherished. All hail He is Legend!
