Interpol and Bloc Party announce Australian co-headline tour
Indie rock heavyweights are reuniting with cult fans down under
Indie rock giants Interpol and Bloc Party are reuniting to delight their cult following in Australia, with an exciting co-headline tour scheduled for November. It's a much-awaited return for Interpol since their last appearance in 2019, and they are all set to mesmerize devoted music fans with their magnetic stage presence and atmospheric hits from acclaimed albums like "Turn On The Bright Lights," "Antics," and "El Pintor."
Formed in Manhattan back in 1997, Interpol stands as one of the quintessential bands from the early 2000s New York indie music scene, alongside iconic artists like The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, and The National. Described as a "transcendent experience," their live shows promise to captivate the audience with beloved classics and tracks from their latest 7th studio album, "The Other Side of Make-Believe," making its Australian debut.
The band expressed their excitement, stating, "We are so happy to be hitting the road with our friends Bloc Party in Australia. Come on down!"
On the other side of this co-headline experience is Bloc Party, the acclaimed UK indie-rock powerhouse, ready to grace Australian stages for the first time since 2018. Fans can expect a thrilling performance as they dive into a genre-bending repertoire of celebrated gems from albums like "Silent Alarm," "A Weekend In The City," "Intimacy," and their latest 2022 LP release, "Alpha Games." Furthermore, Bloc Party has recently released two more singles this year, "Keep It Rolling" and "High Life," with "The High Life EP" set to drop on Friday 21 July.
Bloc Party's journey began in 2003 when lead singer Kele Okereke shared their single "She's Hearing Voices" with Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos and BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq. The song was immediately recognized as "genius" and helped pave the way for their debut album "Silent Alarm," which achieved platinum status in 2005. With nearly two decades and six albums worth of material, fans can expect a vibrant array of favorites during their live performance, including hits like "Banquet," "Helicopter," "This Modern Love," and "Flux."
Kele Okereke expressed his excitement, saying, "The histories of Bloc Party and Interpol are intertwined at various stages of our careers. It made perfect sense to us to solidify that by playing some massive shows together in one of our favorite countries on earth. We can't wait to get back to Australia in November."
Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime tour! Make sure to catch the powerhouse bands Interpol and Bloc Party on stage near you this November.
