New Ep ‘Plague Of Locus’ out Oct 19th
Extreme metal pioneers The Amenta have unveil single, video, and EP titled "Plague of Locus." This ambitious EP, boasting ten tracks and spanning over 40 minutes, showcases new compositions alongside a curated collection of cover songs that have fueled their innovative journey. Seizing the moment, The Amenta is embarking on a long-awaited headline tour across Australia, finishing at Adelaide’s premier metal festival, Froth & Fury!
"Plague of Locus" features covers ranging from local black metal enigmas like Nazxul and Lord Kaos as well as Alice In Chains, Diamanda Galus, and Killing Joke.
Composer and keyboardist Timothy Pope reflects, "Listening to ‘Plague of Locus’ immediately invokes a nostalgic shiver. It resonates with the same chilling intensity as our material from the 2008 “n0n” album. While it maintains that initial familiarity, it boldly distorts it through wailing theremin and an expansive, epic mid-section featuring an inspired vocal delivery by Cain. Yet, traces of that nostalgic essence remain. To complement the track, we've encircled it with covers of songs that have profoundly influenced us, particularly our 2021 album, “Revelator”. Interestingly, two of these tracks were recorded during the “Revelator” sessions."
The artwork for "Plague of Locus" once again springs forth from the creative genius of the legendary Metastazis (known for works with Paradise Lost, Behemoth & Ulver). Metastazis was also the visionary behind the band’s visual identity in their 2021 releases, "Revelator" and "Solipschism."
Mixed by Erik Miehs and mastered by Maor Applebaum (renowned for works with Faith No More & Sabaton), the EP's sonic landscape expands upon the intense weight of "Revelator," resulting in a staggering EP that encapsulates heaviness, ferocity, and a natural, organic feel.
The upcoming Plague of Locus 2023 Tour marks The Amentas triumphant return to headline shows after a decade. Renowned for their uncompromising, suffocating, and dominating live performances, this genre-defying horde is poised to unleash an unrelenting assault across all tour dates.
