HKSPK Release New Album Heimkehr
The German black/death metal trio explore memory, comradeship and loss on their second full-length album
German black/death metal trio HKSPK have released their second full-length album Heimkehr.
Formed in Brandenburg in 2023, HKSPK combine the aggression of black and death metal with darker atmospheric and emotional elements. Their latest release takes that further across eight tracks and a compact 25-minute runtime.
Heimkehr begins with shorter, more violent tracks before gradually moving into more emotionally exposed territory, exploring memory, comradeship and loss. German and English lyrics are used throughout the album, eventually leading into its six-minute title track.
The independent release follows the band's earlier material and comes after HKSPK have shared stages with the likes of Asagraum, Enisum and Waldgeflüster.
Rather than offering the closure its title might suggest, Heimkehr uses the idea of homecoming as a way into something considerably darker.
Heimkehr is out independently on 11 September.
